Signs Your Brake System Needs Immediate Attention
By DriveMax Motors Service Team
1. Squealing or Grinding Noises
A high-pitched squeal when braking usually means the pads are worn down to the wear indicators. A grinding sound means the pads are gone and metal is contacting metal — replace them immediately before the rotors are damaged.
2. A Spongy or Low Brake Pedal
If the pedal feels soft, sinks slowly to the floor, or needs more travel than usual, you may have air in the lines, a fluid leak, or a failing master cylinder. This is a serious safety issue — do not drive.
3. The Car Pulls to One Side
When braking pulls the car left or right, one side's braking force is weaker. This is often a stuck caliper or uneven pad wear. Get it checked right away.
4. Vibration in the Steering Wheel
A pulsing or shaking in the steering wheel under braking usually points to warped brake rotors. While not an immediate failure, it reduces stopping performance and should be addressed.
5. The Brake Warning Light
Never ignore a red brake warning light. It can mean low fluid, a parking brake engaged, or a pressure imbalance. Pull over safely and have it diagnosed.
Brakes are never something to postpone. If you notice any of these signs, book a Brake Service at our Trece Martires service center and we'll inspect pads, rotors, lines, and fluid in one visit.
